ACL and Meniscus Tear: I suffered a ACL Tear in 2016 while playing basketball and the general Physicians were not able to sense the tear for close to a year recommending only PT, which I did and went back to sports and injured my self repeatedly which aggravated the issue with my knee and cause a Meniscus tear as well, after my repeated request to be referred to a specialist I was referred to Dr. Dev Mishra at Stanford Center in Redwood City. With a simple Lachman test he was able to tell me that there is a 95% chance I have suffered a tear, he also mentioned there is a possibility of Meniscus all with simple tests and within 10mins. [Always go to a specialist]. With MRI [Simon Imaging] and X-ray results the tear was confirmed. I booked my surgery date with Dr Jason Dragoo's staff, and did all the pre-operation exercises to strength my injured knee for 3 months, these exercises are available on Youtube and Stanford website (it is very important you do this). A day before the surgery I had to use a anti-infection body scrub (don't shave or trim your operable area, the facility will take care of it). On the day of the surgery, it was a cake walk, all you do is change into hospital clothes and relax and the rest is taken care of. Please opt for the cooling system [1: GameReady or 2: Bregg, ask for Game Ready]. The surgery was done in 3 hours and I was cleared to go home. Stanford facilities are great, the specialists are busy, but they are excellent, don't expect Dr. Jason Dragoo or the main surgeon in your case to spend a lot of time talking to you, other Doctors make up for it and will explain you everything, always ask questions (we all have our first time encounter with medical Jargon). I went for a follow up the next day and did some PT at Redwood. Now the main adventure starts: RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Exercise) Do this for the next 4 months with your Physical Therapists workout advice, document your workout sessions Weekly. You will start noticing changes. Overall 5 Stars for Stanford Sports Center at Redwood City, from start to the end, i have had a great experience (use their Smart Phone App for scheduling, its amazing !). Doctors were excellent with great insight and pin point accuracy on issues and solutions, Staff are very kind and accommodating, Facility is great, Parking is slightly limited (Free Valet parking for patients makes up for it), If you are considering a sports based diagnosis/surgery, GO HERE ! You will appreciate the care.
